A week with Dad

Other than fishing we were together everyday and did lots of other fun activities. Here are some of our fun adventures:

We visited this Aquarium in Yankton, SD. I found out that this is one of the places my Mom and Dad went on their honeymoon. That should have been my Mom's first clue about my Dad's love of fish. ha,ha
It's amazing that as Midland is in a water restriction because of the lack of rain, the Midwest is practically in a flood. This is the Missouri river. Normally this dam is there but all the turbines are closed and water just trickles over the edge. They actually opened it all up and it's just bubbling with tons of water. The water is about 70 feet deep. It was quite a site to see.

We were able to go to my Uncle's farm several times. The kids just loved it because they have so much room to just roam and explore and of course, they loved seeing the pigs he has. He has 2 - 750 lbs Mama pigs. They are just HUGE and the babies are soo cute!!

J just loved playing basketball with my cousins. They were so nice to him and he asks about them all the time. This is one of my cousins and J actually got to watch him at a football camp. He absolutely loved it and really looks up to him.

We also went swimming at a couple of their local pools. They were so nice and the kids just loved it. It was a nice way to cool off on the very humid Midwest days. This is the high dive, I knew F would go off it because she's so daring but ALL of the kids actually did it over and over. I couldn't believe it. I think they all went off that high dives more times that day, than I have in my whole life!!
I love the small water ski show that they have in Sioux Falls. It's a little cheesy but I just love it and they do some amazing stunts. This is always on my list of things to do when I come for a visit in the summer.

Here's a fun story. We went to a lake about 1 hr away from Sioux Falls. Having never grown up around any relatives, I never expect to see people I know. So, the kids decided to go swimming in the lake and sure enough, I spot one of my cousins swimming as well. I couldn't believe it. I think that that has only ever happened 1 other time in my life. I just love being around family.

We had so much fun with my Dad. He just makes us all laugh and we always love to hear his stories. They are so fun to hear. We also snuck in trips to the park and some movies. J especially loved to play some basketball with my Dad. He was able to learn a few tricks and now wants to play Bball just like Grandpa.
