Back to School

Well the kids are officially in school for the year. It's been a hard few weeks because we again had school changes but we're just praying they resolve themselves. I had put all 3 kids in a lottery to go to Bowie Elementary, which is a magnet school in our town that focus's on the arts. (music, art, theatre etc...) I went to one as a child and loved it and I also felt strongly about getting the kids involved and learning music (they are big athletes and it's always nice to even out their brain a little ) Unfortunately/Fortunately the boys got selected but F did not because there wasn't any space in 1st grade. We had hoped over the summer that someone would drop out and she would get in but that never happened. So as of this morning the two boys went to the Arts school and F was going back to her previous school.

Our 4th grader, 1st grader and Kindergartner (The boys go to a uniform school that is why they are dressed in polos and khakis) :}
J shed some tears this morning because he was NOT looking forward to going to the new school, but I knew that once he got there that he would be fine. When we picked him up this afternoon he was all smiles. I was so relieved and he seemed to have had a pretty good day. In 4th grade at this school they are able to "specialize" in 2 different arts, as of today J choose piano and art. I tried to get him to take band but he wasn't interested. :} He loves his teacher and made a new friend and was definitely relieved to find out they still have P.E.

F also shed some tears this morning and I think it was mostly because she was a bit nervous because she was alone at her school without her brothers. But by the time we picked her up, she was also all smiles and had a wonderful day at school. She loves her teachers and is happy with her friends. The good news is though, that when we dropped off the boys this morning the principal told us that there will be an opening for her in 2 weeks at the Arts school with the boys. I'm pretty sure she'll switch over but we're leaving it up to her because she'll have already been school for 2 weeks. I'd rather have her do it sooner rather than later.
Our big kindergartner. He had a wonderful day and wasn't nervous at all. He made friends fast and he has the nicest teacher. I can't believe our 3 kids are all in school now. I remember taking J to kindergarten and now they are all in school. Time sure flies by fast.

Big Boy, ready for school
