Austin Day #1

I've always heard such fun things about Austin, Tx and being that we have our very own Austin, we really wanted to make sure to check out the town before we moved.  So we headed there after J's tournament for a quick trip.  We packed so much in in 2 days but we're all so glad we went and had a really great time.

First stop was the Hula Hut on Lake Austin.  We ate right on the lake and the kids loved checking out the turtles and fish in the lake.

This was the coolest thing.  Not sure what it was called but this guy shot up from the water like a rocket and just moved all around.  I think he was connected to the jet ski.

It was so beautiful to just sit and enjoy the view of the lake.

Next stop was the Japanese Botanical Gardens.  They were so neat and very relaxing.

Our little friend the lizard

Our NOT so friendly snake.  Actually he didn't do anything but we all about freaked when we saw him in the water.

F with some Sweet Pea

 Check out that spider web

Look who's almost as tall as his Mom

 Aww, they do love each other  :}

One thing I didn't know about Austin is that it is very humid so after the walk in the botanical gardens we headed to Teo's for yummy gelato.

We ended the night at the Congress Street bridge for the night bat flight.  It was pretty amazing to see the millions of bats that just emerge from the bridge.  It went on for quite some time and was a pretty neat thing to watch. Would you believe that they said the animal most like a bat, is a dolphin????  I would have never guessed that.

Beautiful skyline view of Austin
