A day in D.C.

Our second to last day in Virginia, we traveled to Washington D.C. We were there for a fairly short day but we were able to sneak a lot in and can't wait to go back. The first and last time I was there was when I was in 8th grade and it was really fun to go back as an adult and you see things from a totally different perspective. This was obviously J's first time there and he LOVED it. He knew so much history from school and all the reading he does so it was fun for him to actually see the things he has been learning about.

J and I at Arlington Cemetery with the view of the city in the background.
Beautiful trees. We think these were the beginning of the cherry blossoms but aren't for sure. Either way, they were gorgeous!!!
More beautiful trees
L and I in front of the beautiful tree

Arlington cemetery
Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Changing of the guards. It was a pretty cool site to see
Lincoln Memorial (believe it or not, we actually ran into someone from Midland, from our church right in front of the Lincoln Memorial... small world, huh)

J is pointing to where Martin Luther King said his "I Had a Dream" speech
Vietnam Memorial ( I love this picture of J)
This was at the WW II Memorial
This was probably my favorite monument. So cool to see and then with the water features inside, I thought it was pretty neat.

Grandma and GG we took this for you!
Washington Monument - It was closed due to the earthquake last year so we just got to see the outside.
Museum of Natural History
T- Rex
J kept talking about this Megaladon the WHOLE trip and sure enough we run into it at the Natural History museum. He knows so much..... it's scary :}
The Hope Diamon
This was found on Easter Island. (J thought it was pretty cool so we had to get a picture)
The Capital building
