Snow Day!!

Yesterday (Sunday night) at around midnight it started snowing. I mean BIG flakes and fast. I couldn't believe how fast it covered the ground and how beautiful it looked. Of course, we had sort of heard that snow was possible so the kids were really excited about it. I woke them up from their very slumber sleep (Yeah I know, mean Mom, but hey when you have Arizona kids, they get really excited about this stuff) The news said there was about 3 inches but by the time we woke up in the morning, I would say at least some of it was already melted and the streets were pretty clear. However, because they get snow so rarely around here, they aren't really prepared for it and they cancelled school. I remember how excited I was for snow days, and our kids were the same. I couldn't wait to sleep in but THEY just couldn't wait to get out in the snow!! Here are some pictures I took of our snow day.
The kids could barely contain themselves, they wanted to get out and play!!
A threw the first snowball
F throwing snow but you can see J in the background preparing for the surprise snowball throw.

Snow Angel just for you Grandma Kiger
Of course they had to eat some too.

South Dakota family, you'd love it if J was there. He couldn't wait, to shovel the sidewalks. :}
Isn't this a beautiful shot?
We had a really nice relaxing day. I had to go into work for a few hours but other than that we relaxed, kids did crafts, got some Christmas wrapping done and finally went to see Arthur's Christmas. I've realized since I've become an old fuddy duddy that I really do NOT like the cold or the snow. I think I've experienced so much of it in the first part of my life, that it's just something I've already checked off my "list." I can appreciate it from the inside of my house but prefer not to be out in it, play in it or be cold. Luckily, my kids don't notice. :} Today was a 2 hour delay because of cold weather (yeah a freezing 20 degrees) but we'll all take it. Another day to sleep in.

Wow that looks so pretty, love the snow covered trees. The kids look like they are having a blast. You can tell they are not used to playing in the snow, they are wearing cotton clothes that absorb wet and cold fast, lol.
