Midland Academy tournament

Well recreation soccer is finally over but we had one more weekend of soccer. J is in the Midland Soccer Academy program, which is for kids who are a little more serious about soccer and want to learn how to play the game at a higher level to prepare them for club soccer. His team has only been practicing together once a week for about 2 months and they wanted to get some experience and go to a tournament in Dallas. We've always heard how Dallas teams play at such a higher level, so we were little nervous about taking the boys there but we figured it would be a good experience for them and help them to understand the level that academy teams play at. Boy, were we surprised. The kids played great!! They literally lost their first game by 1 point in the last 5 seconds of the game. They were able to keep up with Dallas team and probably could have pulled off the win. The second game they won 4-0 and the final game they ended up losing. Overall, we were so proud of the way they played and they looked really good. Besides, most of the teams they played against have probably been playing together for several years and their team has been together a few months.

The team did great and I really think J did AWESOME. He started every game and played the majority of the game. He has a great foot and throw in and that came in handy several times. He even had one assist (that means he kicked it to one of the players who put it in the goal) I was so proud and it was fun to see the kids play at a higher level.
He kicks so hard he comes off the ground.
Must have been a hail mary.. jk Not sure what he was doing. :}

Another kick
R was the assistant coach for the games and J really liked that. Here J is ready to go in, standing next to the 2 coaches.
