Class Representative

About 2 weeks ago J came home and told me he was running for class representative. I was completely shocked but so proud of him for stepping outside of his comfort zone and running in a new school with completely new friends than last year. He had to make posters over the weekend and hang them in school. R and I helped him with the posters but it was all his idea and "his thing," we just followed his lead. He was a little nervous being the new kid in his class, and the girl that was class representative from last year was also running against him but we talked about how just "trying" something new was an accomplishment in of itself.
Unfortunately, he did not win but we are so proud of him for having the confidence to try and the willingness and maturity to handle such an important role. He handled the loss OK, he picked himself up pretty quickly and told me he was running for vice president next year (5th graders get to run for Vice President) :} J, you make Mom and Dad and all your family so proud!!
